Abstract

• Muscle alterations are prevalent in decompensated cirrhosis. • Muscle abnormalities improve prognostic accuracy beyond the MELD scoring system. • When comparing imaging, biological and functional data, myosteatosis and the “five times sit-to-stand” test emerge as the best predictors of events while waiting liver transplantation.
