Abstract

Machine learning is the major success factor in the ongoing digital transformation across industries. Startups and behemoths alike announce new products that will learn to perform tasks that previously only humans could do, and perform those tasks better, faster, and more intelligently. But how do they do it? What does it mean for IT developers and software engineers? Here, Panos Louridas and I present a brief overview of machine-learning technologies, with a concrete case study from code analysis. I look forward to hearing from both readers and prospective column authors.
