Five single-crystal polymorphs of the model compound Cbz-COOH were successfully obtained. These polymorphs exhibited distinct room-temperature phosphorescence properties; including variations in emission wavelength; phosphorescence lifetime; and photoluminescence quantum yield. This study provides a rational design principle for organic RTP materials via polymorphic engineering.
