Abstract

• Reports ultrasonic speed, density and viscosity of isopropyl benzene (cumene) + aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures. • Connects interactions in these mixtures with their acoustic and transport characteristics. • The characteristics of the solute and solvent, in terms of whether the solute modifies of distorts the solvent’s structure, is better understood through the interactions among liquid mixtures. • Provides information on nature and relative the strength of interactions in these media is a crucial factor. • Correlates acoustic and transport properties with interactions in these mixtures.
