Abstract
En 中文
The overall treatment goal of MOH is to ensure the patient has a safe and effective regimen for preventing and treating their headaches. Patients may be unaware of the frequency of their abortive medication use and the consequences of overuse. Education is crucial in preventing the development of MOH. Some patients are able to discontinue or reduce the use of the offending agent on their own after education, whereas other patients may require pharmacologic and psychological support. There are multiple treatment strategies, and the selection of the treatment plan should be based on patient-specific factors and the specific offending agent. Preventive treatments, such as botulinum toxin, topiramate, or monoclonal antibody CGRP antagonists, may be beneficial in the treatment of MOH.
