Highly controllable and efficient crystallization process is the urgent requirement for hyper pure solid product and the green process engineering. Especially, the accurate regulation of the microscale nucleation and intensification of crystal growth is multidisciplinary and multiscale topic that has attracted many researchers' attention. Herein, this review will systematically discuss the principle of membrane crystallization, as a novel microscale interfacial technology, on the interfacial supersaturation control, nucleation, particle motion and growth in the hybrid process. The controlling theory based on microscale pores and channels of the membrane interface and further applications based on membrane crystallization technology are then emphasized. Finally, as an emerging technology, the perspectives and key research directions in membrane crystallization are outlined for the advanced crystallization engineering.
