Herein, the new azo reagent, 2-[(benzimidazole)azo]-4-methylphenol (BIAP), was created and used as a chromophore reagent. BIAP's structure was identified using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), FTIR and 1H NMR. The BIAP was used to extract silver ions from water and foods. A simple cloud point extraction (CPE) approach for the determination of silver ions by a spectrophotometer detector was applied. It is worth noting that the use of TritonX-100 (TX-100) improved the method's sensitivity and stability following chelation with silver ions. In addition, the chelation of silver ion and the azo reagent was measured spectroscopically using two methods (UV-Vis and FAAS). The spectrophotometric method determines the ion-pair association complex of silver at lambda max=594 nm. Additionally, the optimum critical volume of TX-100, temperature, and heating time were 0.6mL, 85 degrees C, and 15.0min, respectively. The thermodynamic functions are calculated as follows: delta Hex=0.0783 KJmol-1, delta Gex=-67.3978 KJmol-1, and delta Sex=188.4807 JK-1 mol-1. The LOD, PF, EF, and linearity bands were 0.26 mu gL-1, 166.66, 22.46, and 1.0-15.0 mu gL-1, respectively.
