• Culture filtrate of Bacillus licheniformis BlCP6 promotes orchid growth and stress tolerance. • Genome analysis and metabolite profiling suggest a potential role for siderophores in growth promotion, while osmoprotectants and extracellular lytic enzymes may contribute to stress tolerance. • Microbial metabolite treatment was associated with enhanced phenylpropanoid metabolism and increased antioxidant enzyme activities. • Treated orchids exhibited improved physiological performance under drought and chilling stress, as well as enhanced tolerance to Fusarium yellow-leaf disease. • Accumulation of proteins linked to leaf growth, stress response, and defense was increased following microbial metabolite treatment in Phalaenopsis orchids.
