• A half-duplex SWPDT system is designed and validated for SAE J2954-compliant V2G wireless charging coils. • Misalignment effects on SWPDT communication are analyzed for the three axes defined in SAE J2954. • Data rate is strongly linked to power level in SL-DC systems, with higher power leading to lower data rate. • At high power levels, misalignment impact on data rate becomes less relevant than the power level itself.
