Abstract

• Physical and human components of the water cycle are investigated and modelled by using high-resolution input data. • The model provides improved understanding of dominant processes for river flow formation in alpine and lowland sub-basins. • An open-source Python code is made available in the public domain for river flow simulation and prediction.
