• Lightweight Hy-MAD algorithm robustly detects seismic precursors. • Hybrid approach solves the LTA masking problem in long anomalies. • Validation uses 1-month continuous real data from East Anatolian Fault. • Hy-MAD improves detection F1-score by fivefold over classical methods. • Optimal precursor window is identified as 24 h before main shocks.
