• The stacking model of PEMFC with high accuracy and generalization capability was established. • The MPMOGWO algorithm was developed for multi-objective optimization of PEMFC performance. • The power density growth rates across various voltages spanned from 19.90% to 63.47%. • The intrinsic mechanism of performance enhancement is elaborated based on 3D physical fields.
