Multi-Objective Programming Method for Passive Filter Tuning

Abstract

Filter tuning methods generally neglect key distribution system characteristics such as load effect due to the challenges to obtain them in practice. However, this practice can increase filter costs. This letter proposes a simplified model of the grid that incorporates the load effect based only on information readily available in practice. This circuit is then used in two new methods for passive filter tuning. Application studies in real feeders confirm these methods outperform existing ones in terms of cost, power losses, and voltage amplification.
