• 142 volatile species, including 16 sulfur compounds, were quantified from three representative WtE plants. • Sulfides dominated emissions (44-89%) and contributed 80-98% of total odor impact. • OVOCs accounted for 67% of national OFP, while SOAP was driven by OVOCs (42%) and alkanes (41%). • Carcinogenic risks (1.75×10−4-3.61 × 10−3) exceeded regulatory benchmarks, mainly from naphthalene and benzene. • A national-scale, sulfur-inclusive, species-resolved emission inventory (4200 t/a) was established.
