• The proposed method formulates fault isolation as a MINLP problem using robust Mallows’Cp, with a forward selection strategy employed to accelerate the solution process. • Faults can be crisply isolated without smearing effects and the need of a priori specification of hyperparameter that determines the weighting of the sparsity penalty. • Magnitudes of each faulty variables can be determined in multivariate faults.
