Abstract

• A neural network with a rectified linear unit activation function model is developed. • A model predictive controller with the neural network model is designed. • The design yields a mixed-integer quadratic programming optimal control problem. • The controller achieves tracking of a wastewater treatment process under disturbance. • The control problem can be solved to global optimality and guarantees feasibility.
