This article examines how the development of e-government (EGDI), open data, and citizen participation (EPI) jointly influence the G20 countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). EGDI is shown to have a positive influence on progress towards delivering the SDGs. Data openness and EPI further strengthen this effect. The strongest impact emerges under conditions of simultaneous implementation. The findings offer actionable insights for public sector accountants, auditors, policy-makers, and digital government strategists concerned with digital reform and sustainable development. This article examines the effects of e-government (EGDI) development, open data, and citizen participation (EPI) on progress towards delivering the SDGs in 19 G20 countries during the period from 2016 to 2024. The study applies a fixed effects model. The empirical results show that EGDI has a positive influence on progress towards the SDGs. This influence appears stronger in countries characterized by higher levels of data openness and greater intensity of EPI. The analysis integrates digital government development, data openness, and EPI within a unified empirical framework. The findings provide new evidence on how the complementary dimensions of digital governance support major economies in achieving the SDGs.
