• An exact nonlinear theory of large-amplitude ion-acoustic waves in a non-ideal e−e+i+ plasma was developed. • The Bernoulli pseudopotential method is used. • The dependence of the maximum velocity of solitons on the ratio of unperturbed positron and ion densities was calculated.
