Operation Control Algorithm of ESS with High Reliability

Abstract

This paper is about the fault diagnosis of ESS(Energy Storage Systems. It can prevent heat explosion and insulation distance problem caused by heat which are the causes of fire of ESS for the safe and efficient operation of ESS. In this paper, the ESS is selectively charged through a PCS(Power Conversion System) according to the algorithm and SOC(State Of Charge) through the CCM(Coulomb Counting Method) for predicting the accurate SOC. Also, the battery of ESS can be managed reliably by fault diagnosis through the charge time using PCS and by predicting the SOH(State Of Health). In this paper, the proposed algorithm is 3 [kW] PCS and its validity is verified through experiments.
