• First simulation-optimized 2 μm energy-managed soliton mode-locked lasers. • Novel design enhances pulse energy and confirms dual-zone mechanism. • Under varied pump power, optimal filter bandwidth yields the highest pulse energy. • A single-pulse energy of 66.5 nJ was achieved in a pure anomalous dispersion laser.
