• Although BPF is regarded as a safer alternative to BPA, it needs more toxicity data. • BPF induced histopathological abnormalities in liver and small intestine. • BPF induced changes in clinical signs and organ weights. • BPF induced changes in coagulation and clinical chemistry parameter levels. • The no-observable adverse effect level for BPF was determined to be 83 mg/kg/day.
