Patterned structural color generation fabricated by laser post-processing technology

Abstract

A strategy to achieve structural color by 2D periodic substrate and pulsed laser post-processing technique has been proposed in this study. Colors as orange, yellow and blue-green are experimentally obtained by changing the laser post-processing parameters. For the ordered structure with period of 500 nm on Si substrate, it indicates that with a gradual decrease of the scanning speed from 200 mm / s to 10 mm / s, the resonance peaks progressively bule shift from lambda = 613.3 nm to 514.6 nm. Moreover, the influence of SiO2 layer on the optical property of samples is also investigated, wherein along with the decrease of the scanning speed from 140 mm / s to 5 mm / s on the SiO2 / Si composite substrate, there is a distinct blue-shift for the two reflection peak positions, and two bright and vivid new colors such as violet and viridis have been obtained. Therefore, the proposed samples here show promising potential applications for green printing, anti-counterfeiting and other related fields with low cost.
