• This article focuses on the performance of scCO2 CBC cooling system for aero engine. • A calculation model considering scCO2 flow and heat transfer is constructed. • A relative performance coefficient is proposed to evaluate cycle performance. • An optimal scCO2 mass flow rate exists to make cycle net power maximum. • A critical fuel mass flow rate exists to make cycle performance roughly constant.
