Performance-based position domain integrity analysis for integer aperture Bootstrapping estimator

Abstract

This study presents the Position Domain Integrity Partial Integer Aperture Bootstrapping (PDI-PIAB) method, which aims to enhance position domain integrity in high-integrity Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) applications. The PDI-PIAB method addresses the two key components of integrity risk under ambiguity resolution assumptions through the construction of a performance-based optimal objective function designed to maximize availability. Simulation results show that PDI-PIAB significantly outperforms existing methods in terms of availability and integrity. For example, under stringent integrity requirements, PDI-PIAB achieves an availability of 0.99, compared to 0.70 for Generalized Integer Aperture Bootstrapping (GIAB) and 0.37 for float VPL. The incorporation of wide-lane ambiguities further reduces the failure rate and improves integrity performance. These findings highlight the practical implications of PDI-PIAB for safety-critical systems, such as aircraft landings, autonomous vehicle navigation, and rail traffic management.
