SjD is a long-lasting, autoimmune illness that affects the entire body and can result in pain, fatigue, and dry eyes and mouth. Here we summarize results from aphase 2 clinical trial, originally published inNature Medicine, which examined how well dazodalibep worked in two groups of participants with SjD: (1) participants with high disease activity and (2) participants with intense symptoms but low disease activity. To date, clinical trials for SjD have focused largely on patients with high disease activity but excluded patients with intense symptoms (dry eyes and mouth, fatigue, and muscle and joint pain that spreads across the body) but low disease activity. While medicines are available to manage SjD symptoms, no medications are currently approved to treat the underlying cause of SjD.

In this trial, dazodalibep significantly reduced disease activity and substantially improved symptoms of SjD ingroup 1and significantly improved symptoms of SjD ingroup 2.
