• A denoising diffusion model is integrated into a Plug-and-Play (PnP) framework. • A mathematical correspondence is established between the PnP prior update and the deterministic clean-estimation step within reverse diffusion. • The framework enables high-fidelity reconstruction of complex geological structures. • The proposed PnP-Diff outperforms traditional and existing PnP inversion methods.
