• PoGPx-7 is a teleost GPx-7 homolog with positive charges and enzymatic activity. • rPoGPx-7 binds to V. alginolyticus via LPS/PGN and exerts bactericidal effects. • rPoGPx-7 activates PBLs and contributes to host defense against bacterial infection.
