• A novel ionic cross-linked microporous membrane (QPIM/SPEEK) was fabricated via acid-base pair interactions. • The optimized QPIM15 membrane exhibits superior Li+/Mg2+ selectivity of 6.98 and a high Li+ flux of 0.19 mmol·cm-2·h-1. • PALS and MD simulations reveal a highly permselective mechanism based on the synergistic effect of size sieving and electrostatic repulsion.
