• Variable-threshold circular mode acquires multi-energy data via two staggered scans. • A nonlinear model is tailored to projection features of the proposed scanning mode. • A novel model-based TSLM-FBP algorithm is developed for basis material decomposition. • Achieves high-precision multi-material decomposition without extra hardware or time.
