Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
• We analyse 9-decade trend in nitrate leaching from alpine zone in the Tatra Mountains. • Nitrate leaching depends on catchment and climate characteristics and N deposition. • These variables explain 81 % of the variation in nitrate content in lakes from 1937 to 2024. • Increasing air temperature recently increases percentage N retention in catchments. • Extended growing seasons partially alleviates the N saturation of the alpine zone.
