• Resting-state EEG altered default mode network in CUD. • Prefrontal delta-high gamma and beta-high gamma coupling were interrupted in CUD. • Cross-frequency coupling disturbance in the CUD observed during resting eye-open condition. • Increased default mode network coherence during the eyes-closed state in a group of CUD. • Multilayer perceptron model achieved high performance in classifying complex neurological signals in the CUD. .
