• α-Galactosidase production was tested in 148 Brazilian non-Saccharomyces isolates • Four yeasts strains were capable of producing α-galactosidase in LAPRS and TW • Highest α-gal activity: 69.18 ± 2.89 U∙g-1 cell mass by A. leucospermi CHAP-209 • The same strain showed the highest biomass yield (8.50 ± 0.48 g∙L-1) in TW • The use of soy residues leans towards a sustainable bioprocess
