• Tuning the ratio of PTCDA/CuS to LPSCB in the composite cathode is critical for the rate performance. • Coordination of Cu2+ and the formation of sulfur-linked polymers occur during cycling. • PTCDA/CuS electrode shows good interfacial compatibility with the LPSCB solid electrolyte. • PTCDA/CuS solid-state batteries show stable cycling over 1000 cycles without any capacity degradation.
