• Pyridoxal 5 phosphate (PLP) attenuates sodium selenite–induced cataract in rat pups • PLP reduced the cataract incidence and lens opacity index • PLP increased the lens protein concentration and Na+/K+-ATPase activity • PLP reduces oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation (MDA) • PLP suppresses TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and ameliorate antioxidant enzymes (S0D, CAT, and GSH). • PLP suppresses caspase-3 expression and shows anti-apoptotic effects in cataract effects
