Quantum image processing leverages fundamental principles of quantum mechanics to manipulate visual information with computational efficiency surpassing classical limitations. This paper presents a comparative review of quantum mechanical approaches to visual security, specifically focusing on the interplay between image representation models and steganography protocols. We critically analyze the theoretical foundations of prominent representation models including FRQI, NEQR, and MCQI by evaluating their impact on qubit efficiency and circuit complexity. The study synthesizes recent advancements in quantum steganography and watermarking, demonstrating how core quantum properties such as superposition, entanglement, and the no-cloning theorem are exploited to achieve high-capacity embedding and unconditional security. Furthermore, we provide a detailed comparison of embedding strategies in both spatial and transform domains while assessing their robustness against signal processing attacks. By elucidating the relationship between steganographic concealment and watermarking integrity, this review outlines the evolution of quantum hiding research and identifies key theoretical challenges for future quantum-enabled secure communication systems
