• RFH-PDS achieved 92.15% BaA removal within 60 min in contaminated soil. • RFH accelerated BaA degradation and reduced the apparent activation energy. • RF field weakened the O–O bond in PDS and enhanced ROS generation. • RF field altered BaA electrostatic potential and degradation pathway. • RFH-PDS removed 97.15% PAHs from real contaminated soil to meet regulatory limits.
