Reply. We thank Dr Silberg and colleagues1 for their constructive critique of our multidisciplinary appropriateness study2 that aimed to develop appropriate designs and configurations of randomized trials in celiac disease. We agree that the patient voice is essential in multiple aspects of drug development, including identification of unmet needs, development of patient-reported outcomes, foreseeing feasibility of study protocols, and implementation and dissemination of results.
