• Direct injection method for the analysis of 235 CECs in environmental waters. • Minimal sample handling and single injection by polarity switching in 17-min run. • Validated in WW and DW, including OMCs of EU Directive 2024/3019 and Watch List. • Most LOQs were in the 0.1-50 ng/L range for both matrices. • OMC sum concentrations ranged from 17.7 to 239.9 μg/L in WW and 0.1–1.0 μg/L in DW.
