A rapid and practical approach for the synthesis of trifluoromethyl-substituted thiazolidine-2-thiones through [3 + 2] annulation of dithiocarbamate salts with CF3-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides (TFISYs) under catalyst-, oxidant-, and additive-free conditions. The transformation features simple operation, environmentally benign, very mild conditions, readily available reactants, high efficiency, and scalability, providing a facile and straightforward entry to biologically valuable N,S-containing heterocycle molecules.
