• A vacancy-rich sodiophilic intermetallic formed in situ via mechanical rolling. • NBT accelerates Na+ transport kinetics, enabling dense and uniform Na plating. • NVP||NBT-Na enables wide-temperature operation from −40 to 60 °C. • NVP||NBT-Na delivers >10,000 cycles at 10C (25 °C) with 82.5% retention.
