Scientists generate dedicated datasets for specific data analyses. A dedicated dataset cannot serve to generate another one, nor to regenerate the original dataset. ‘Sensu stricto phenomic datasets’, upstream of the latter, aim at facilitating access to and reuse of the whole information not included in the published dedicated dataset. They organize the time courses of phenotypic measurements and of environmental data and link them with genetic data and metadata via knowledge graphs. Data reuse requires storage and documentation of both the sensu stricto phenomic dataset (for other disciplines) and the dedicated dataset (for specialists). Common rules were proposed across datasets, such as metadata organization or variable naming with a quadruplet trait, Entity_traitCharacteristic_method_unit. Information can be retrieved across infrastructures via data portals and search engines.
