Alteration in gut microbiome have been increasingly linked to many psychiatric disorders inclusive depression. However, findings regarding microbiome diversity in depression remain inconsistent. Differences in depression subtypes, particularly the somatic versus affective symptoms profiles may partly explain this heterogeneity in previous results.
