Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
The stonefly genus Sinacroneuria Yang and Yang, 1995 (Plecoptera: Perlidae) is restricted to East Asia and represents an important component of freshwater biodiversity. However, the taxonomy of Chinese Sinacroneuria has not been comprehensively revised, resulting in difficulties in species identification. In this study, we conducted a systematic review of the Chinese species based on morphological characters. Before the present study, Sinacroneuria comprised 20 described species worldwide, 18 of which were recorded from China. The five new species bring these totals to 25 species worldwide and 23 in China, representing increases of 25 percent and 27.8 percent, respectively. All Chinese species are diagnosed, and five new species, S. dayaoshan sp. nov., S. fengyanghu sp. nov., S. magnimaculata sp. nov., S. similiwui sp. nov., and S. yunjishan sp. nov., are described. An updated identification key to all Chinese species is also provided. These results improve our understanding of the diversity and taxonomy of Sinacroneuria and provide an important taxonomic reference for future biodiversity, ecological, and biomonitoring studies.
