• Three botanical drugs—Mahonia bealei, Aucklandia lappa and Arisaema erubescens—were identified as potent inhibitors against Metschnikowia bicuspidata, a pathogen causing “milky disease” in Eriocheir sinensis. • The botanical drugs Mahonia bealei, Aucklandia lappa, and Arisaema erubescens disrupt the cellular integrity of Metschnikowia bicuspidata, inducing severe morphological deformation and cell damage, thereby exerting antifungal effects. • The three botanical drugs Mahonia bealei, Aucklandia lappa, and Arisaema erubescens significantly increased the survival rate of Metschnikowia bicuspidata-infected Eriocheir sinensis by 19.96%, 6.37%, and 15.48%, respectively, highlighting their potential as therapeutics for the control of “milky disease”
