• Semiconductor FDG PET/CT improved the prediction of grade 3 INMA. • sPET/CT demonstrated improved diagnostic performance compared with cPET/CT. • The diagnostic advantage of sPET/CT was greatest in tumors ≤2 cm without nodal or distant metastasis. • sPET/CT showed favorable diagnostic performance in patients with clinical stage II or higher disease. • Preoperative SUVmax assessment may facilitate risk stratification and individualized treatment strategies.
