Abstract

During the 2024 Chicago measles outbreak, 120 real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) tests were performed on 117 symptomatic persons with measles exposure, but without rash; test sensitivity was 78% (7 true positive). After an initial negative test, providers should maintain suspicion of measles and repeat testing as symptoms progress.
