• Applying single-cell sequencing technology to varicose veins is innovative. • All the single-cell data in this study are original. • Single-cell transcriptomics uncovers altered cellular heterogeneity and the key CCL2-ACKR1 axis in varicose veins. • This study unveils cell-type-specific heterogeneity and CCL2-mediated macrophage-endothelial interactions that may relate to endothelial apoptosis in varicose veins.
