• VARTM was used to make sisal fiber prepregs using a liquid thermoplastic resin. • Elium® resin deeply penetrated the non-woven sisal fiber lumens. • Transversely isotropic laminates were developed by compression molding the prepregs. • The laminates had good mechanical properties and excellent dimensional stability. • These offer sustainable alternatives to commonly used synthetic counterparts.
