Abstract

• A simulation–based digital model is developed to analyse cyclist–vehicle conflicts at low–visibility intersections. • A compound safety indicator combines collision likelihood and injury severity. • A proactive cyclist–oriented C–ITS Bike Message Support (BMS) system is modelled and evaluated. • BMS reduces compound collision risk by 90% compared to obstructed–visibility scenarios without ADAS. • Proactive cyclist warnings outperform AEB alone, with the strongest safety gains when both systems are combined.
