• LS-Fe atom interacts more strongly with dislocation than conventional HS-Fe. • LS-Fe atoms show irregular segregation behavior around dislocation. • LS-Fe atoms induce much stronger solid solution hardening than HS-Fe. • Solid solution hardening induced by LS-Fe atom varies with its occupation orientation.
